River of Steel is a track of 3min 49secs. Clicking on the
plectrum on the left returns
stereo MP3 format file sized at 3.6Mb.
This is the first demo and was finished in a full band
format. Made on the VS 1680 in my cellar and a version meant for my
aborted 'Rogue' CD, I include it here to show how far you can go
and not essentially change an acoustic version. This song began as a
moan after an accident in Austria which totalled our Mercedes Minibus
and left us with the headache of getting home. I was flu ridden as
well which didn't help and this song was about the only good thing
to come out of that situation.

Lyrics and Music: - Alan Prosser
I'm sitting in a rock'n'roll hotel
My fever broke today
Soon my friends will come and we'll be on our way
The whole thing's been a nightmare
Everything's unreal
I've been staring out the window at this great big river of steel
Chorus
River of steel, river of steel
Carry me,...carry me
Get behind that driving wheel and carry me, oh carry me
There's a crow on the street light
Watching the traffic flow
With an empty belly and chicks to feed, he hunts for food below
Doesn't take much imagination
To see he's a lot like me
Scratching a living at the business edge of this great big river of steel
Chorus
Carrion crow, carrion crow, some things you will never know
The pain it causes me to go, the awkwardness returning
Who knows how the year will go
For you and I my friend
I only know I've got to go and we may never meet again by this
Chorus
